ABOUT US
Brass Band of Central England is a brass band with entertainment at the top of its agenda. This famous band comprises thirty of the finest brass and percussion players from across the Midlands.
The band is in high demand for concerts across the UK and has conducted numerous tours throughout Europe and the United States. An extensive repertoire spans a broad spectrum of musical styles, often reflected in the band's concert work, which includes music from classical, big-band shows, and traditional repertoires.
Additionally, the band is frequently featured on television and radio. The band can often be seen supporting the BBC's Songs of Praise and annually supporting the Christmas broadcasts for BBC Coventry & Warwickshire radio. In 2010, it became the first brass band to perform at the prestigious English Music Festival, performing alongside professional orchestras, singers, and instrumentalists.
The band has had numerous contest successes over its rich 80-year history. This includes competing at the National Finals, the British Open, and the All-England Masters. In 2006, the band was invited to compete in the USA Open Brass Band Championships held in Chicago and was once again featured in the prizes. The pinnacle, however, was in 2013 when the band was crowned Midlands area champions for the first time in its history and represented the Midlands at the National Brass Band Finals of Great Britain held at the Royal Albert Hall in London.
The band's primary activity is playing as a 30-piece brass band; however, they are often featured in quartets and 10-piece ensembles. Notably, the band also features one of the very few remaining Fanfare Teams, playing on a complete set of traditional fanfare trumpets.
This all-volunteer organisation upholds the traditions of excellence in music making. It focuses on sharing its unique style of entertainment for the benefit and enjoyment of others with every performance.
