Brass Band of Central England is a championship brass band with entertainment at the top of its agenda. This famous band comprises thirty of the finest brass and percussion players from across the Midlands.
The band is in great demand for concerts across the UK and has conducted numerous tours throughout Europe and the USA. An extensive repertoire stretches a wide spectrum of musical styles often reflected in the band's concert work which includes music from the classics, big-band shows and traditional repertoires.
In addition, the band is often featured on TV and radio. The band can often be seen supporting the BBC's Songs of Praise and annually supporting the Christmas broadcasts for BBC Coventry & Warwickshire radio. In 2010, it became the first brass band to perform at the prestigious English Music Festival, performing alongside professional orchestras, singers and instrumentalists.
The band has had numerous contest successes over its rich 75-year history. This includes competing at the National Finals, the British Open and the All-England Masters. In 2006 the band was invited to compete in the USA Open Brass Band Championships held in Chicago and was once again featured in the prizes. The pinnacle, however, was in 2013 when the band was crowned midland area champions for the first time in its history and represented the midlands at the National Brass Band Finals of Great Britain held at the Royal Albert Hall in London.
The band's main activity is playing as a 30-piece brass band; however, they can often be seen featured in quartets and 10-piece ensembles. Uniquely the band also has one of very few remaining Fanfare Teams playing on a full set of traditional fanfare trumpets.
This all-volunteer organisation upholds the traditions of excellence in music making and focuses on sharing its unique style of entertainment for the benefit and enjoyment of others with every performance.
"The Jaguar Land Rover Band performed 'Brass in Concert' at the Civic Hall in Bedworth - It was a fabulous evening with talented musicians! I am pleased to inform you that we raised £1817 which is a significant donation to local hospice care. Thank you for your support, it really is appreciated and we look forward to working with you again."
